Simples assim: Lopes Mendes já deteve o título de praia mais bonita do Brasil fora do Nordeste. E quem visita Ilha Grande, em Angra dos Reis, não demora muito para perceber porque tantos elogios. Razoavelmente extensa, com três quilômetros de areia fina e amendoeiras, tem como seu principal trunfo as águas super cristalinas, com incríveis variações de tonalidades de azul e verde.
Quase sempre bastante tranquila, apenas na alta temporada a praia ganha alguns verdadeiros ambulantes. O acesso é por trilha, com cerca de 2,5 horas de caminhada intensa a partir da Vila de Abraão, ou via barco/balsa até a Praia do Pouso.
